Name
1) This Society shall be known as the Summerland Minor Hockey Association and shall be known and hereinafter referred to as the Association for the purposes of the
constitution, bylaws and regulations.
ARTICLE TWO
Purpose
2) The objectives of the Association are to:
a) govern and improve organized hockey in accordance with the bylaws,
regulations and policies as set out by the Canadian Hockey Association, the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association, the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association and the Association;
b) promote, improve and perpetuate the playing of the game of hockey, and to foster sportsmanship, good citizenship and community spirit;
c) implement and exercise a standard of care, safety, supervision
and direction to guide the members of the Association;
d) recognize that players participate for a variety of reasons, which may differ from one individual to another. The Association will attempt to satisfy as wide a range of player opportunities as possible; and
e) attempt to provide an equitable opportunity for every player to play hockey, regardless of ability or financial means.
ARTICLE THREE
Place
of Operation
3) The geographical boundaries of the Association shall be as follows:
a)
North:
north-west from the south end of
b) West: following the height of land south of Elkhart Lodge to the eastern end of Osprey lake, continuing south easterly to the west end of Isintok Lake;
c)
South:
from the west end of
d) East: proceeding north up the center of Okanagan Lake to a point immediately east of the south end of Antlers Beach, then proceeding west to the point of commencement.
ARTICLE FOUR
Amendments to the Constitution
4) The constitution of the Association shall not be altered except by a special resolution at a General Meeting, notice of the proposed alteration shall be given to the President of the Association at least 21 clear days prior to the meeting, and the President shall forthwith notify the Executive Officers of the proposed changes. Notice of the proposed changes shall be posted for the members of the Association as outlined in Bylaw Three. An amendment to the constitution shall only be made at a General Meeting and by a 75% majority of the members voting thereon.
ARTICLE FIVE
Affiliation
5) This Association shall be affiliated with the Canadian Hockey Association, the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association and the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association.
ARTICLE SIX
Dissolving
6) In the event the Association should at any time be wound up or dissolved, the remaining assets after payment of all debts and liabilities shall be distributed to such organization or organizations having similar charitable purpose to that of the Association. This provision shall be unalterable.
ARTICLE SEVEN
Not for
profit
7) As an unalterable provision of this Constitution the purpose of this Association shall be not for profit.
