Motion- Any families who registered for the 2008-9 hockey season and have requested a refund at this point in time will receive a complete refund minus a $40 administration fee, excluding one squirt player who will receive a full refund. (Liz/ Gerald) - Passed

 

 

Secretary

 

-          The Summerland Recreation Department has requested a return of the Arena Front Door keys from any coaches who were issued these keys last year. A list of coaches who did not return these keys has been forwarded to the president.

 

 

 

 

Vice President

 

-          WP’s Pee Wee House team has decided not to do 50/50 at their home games.

 

Head Convenor

 

-          Manager’s Manual is progressing.

-          Quotes for photographers are being gathered.

 

Registrar

 

-     Payment has been received from all registered SMHA players for this year.

-     Sting Cards for players complete with ID# are being created.

 

Tournament Coordinator

 

-          2008- 2009 SMHA Tournament report:

Midget Rep – Full (6 Teams)

Atom House – Full (8 Teams)

Bantam Rep – Full (6 Teams)

Equipment Manager

 

-          The ETA on jerseys is Oct. 23

Ice Manager

 

-          The following practice time changes have been implemented:

 

Friday – 5:30 – 6:30 am – Bantam House

Friday – 6:30 – 7:30 am – Atom House

Both Pee Wee teams will have separate practices on Friday evening except in thre case of a scheduled Sting game. On these nights they will practice together.

 

 

Risk Manager

 

-          First Aid kits have been restocked.

-          The arena now has a defibrillator on site.

-          Atom Dev and Pee Wee Rep are the only teams to hand in all their Fair Play Contracts.

Arena Board Advertising

 

-          Going slower than expected. Some businesses are requesting payment plans.

 

Volunteer Screening Policy

 

-          Nearing completion.

 

 

SMHA Office

 

-          Keys are being handed out. A $10 deposit is needed.

 

Sam Hanon Fundraiser

 

-          Memorial Case nearing completion.

-          $ 2400 in fund.

-          Trophies for S.H. Memorial Tournament being purchased.

-          Bench will be purchased and placed at Summerland Secondary School

 

New Business

 

-          Tounament cancellation policy will stand as written.

-          Brent Hatyter has submitted his letter of resignation from SMHA.

-          Brent Hayter will not be providing Power Skating Instruction for SMHA teams.

-          Details of the incident occurring  at a Midget Rep game on Oct. 5 regarding a remark made to a local player has been forwarded to KMHA, OMAHA and BCAHA

-          Atom Development team has been finalized.

-          Question was raised regarding approaching the Rec Department regarding the use of Sunday’s public skating ice being used for tournaments. Shelley to follow up.

 

 

Motion – SMHA will make the 2009 December Tournament Dates the first weekend after Christmas. (Shelley/ Kim) – carried.

 

-          SMHA will recommend, not request, USA players wear neck protectors as per Hockey Canada/ USA Hockey reciprocal agreement.

 

Motion – SMHA will purchase a wreath from the Legion for Remembrance Day. 9Shelley/ Liz) – carried
